Former Game: Melodies of Life
Canon History: Bonnie was assigned to be the personal moogle of the Hero known alternately as James Kidd and Mary Read
Game History: Bonnie was the personal Moogle of Mary Read, and as they traveled and adventured and worked together, Bonnie became so enamoured with her Hero that she stiched her own Assassin hood. She taught herself to be an Assassin as much as she could until Mary finally relented and taught her as much as she felt it was safe to do so.

As a little moogle, Bonnie grew up among the moogles living in Aqures Ixen, and so she was exposed to the legends surrounding the Heroes and the implication that they would be coming in her lifetime. She first heard the stories from her parents, read to her as a bedtime story, but eventually heard it from other sources as well, mostly prodding people who seemed like they'd know to tell her the stories they'd heard. Stories were the main way she learned about the world around her, prone to daydreaming as a child, and she would pester others to tell her all they know about not just the Heroes but the world at large.

Over the years, wonder turned to excitement verging on fandom. It is very likely she bothered quite a few moogles with her idolizing of the Heroes and this did bear out during some of her interaction with the other companion moogles during game proper. Playing at being Heroes was a favorite game of hers and she didn't always ask before dragging others, both mooglekin and taller races, into short adventures which tended to end up leading to a panicked moment of fleeing from an angry person or small monster. She wasn't always the Hero in these stories and sometimes the 'Hero' wound up being the one chasing her off. Enthusiasm did very little to make a stick wielded by a moogle kit into a potent weapon, even against a geezard. It's also possible that if she had not been assigned to a Hero by the powers that be she might have forced the issue and muscled in on someone else's charge.

Like her parents, when Bonnie came of age she took up working at Mognet, and she was a dutiful employee as long as she could remain focus. She wasn't so bad as to open up other people's mail and read them, but things like post cards would often slow her down as she read those and dreamed of those far off places. Also she was prone to getting into conversations with other moogles and people which would lead to slower sorting or deliveries. She'd get her work done, but focus and haste remained her troubles. Never enough to get her in serious trouble, but certainly scolded.

Bonnie did have a good standing relationship with her parents, but after she was old enough to work for Mognet herself her parents retired to deliver mail in more tropical climes. She does miss them on occasion now that she lives in Saori's world, but the wonderful people she spends time with now makes up for it. Bonnie also had a crush on Spencer, Sephiroth's moogle, but while he eventually did return her feelings the two never had the chance to move forward with any sort of relationship. Perhaps one day she'll have the chance to see him again and make some progress there.

As the Heroes continued to stumble their way along their journey, Bonnie remained a stalwart supporter both of Mary and of the Heroes at large. When there were discussions of whether the Heroes were doing the right thing, she'd always come out on their side.

When the Empire attacked Esdham and later when they attacked Aqures Ixen with the Ultima weapon, Bonnie was one moogle who stood in defense of the post office and the moogles therein. She did her best to fight back, using sneak attacks and elevation to make up for her small size and lack of strength, able to knock out a guard or two and destroy a few of the robots. She rescued a few of her fellow mooglekin during the attacks, inspiring a few to fight back as well. Without their help, she may well have ended up getting hurt or worse, but things wound up working out.

Bonnie's Hero related work was her visible priority, but she did keep up with her work with Mognet as well. During the Window of Opportunity, Ventus spotted her on the picket line for that particular strike. Mary did not involve Bonnie in her shenanigans for the most part, and as of the final loop it just seemed like a normal mundane day for the moogle.

One particular turning point for her though happened when the other group of Heroes arrived during Another Side Another Story, with a moogle from Eorzea in their number. In meeting Mogleo, Bonnie was shocked to learn that moogles COULD be Heroes after all. In this moment she realized that this is what she was really chasing after all this time. She was more than content to be a support for the Heroes but what she truly wanted was to fight alongside them and do their part. She had been doing her best up to this point, btu this is when she truly decided she'd try to become a Hero herself by hard work. In her arrival in this new world she'll be shocked to learn this wish has come true, denying it at first, but she will do her kupo best to rise to the challenge.

During the Cluedo event, when Mary was one of the suspects for the murders, Bonnie ended up going back and forth between her Hero and with Saori with the police, trying to make sure the both of them were taking care of themselves and not overdoing it. To Saori she brought over a kuponut-butter and jelly sandwich and Mary she tried to convince she could keep up her Assassin work for her while Mary stayed at home. When Mary was apprehended for her own unwitting part in the murders, Bonnie was going around to all the Heroes she could to try to get information and to speak on her Hero's behalf.

During the five year period in which the Heroes were asleep and the world fell into chaos, Bonnie remained busy with the remnant Assassins, doing her best to help keep the people of the world protected, and she kept on telling anyone she could that she was sure the Heroes would return one day. Soon. Any day now. Mary where are you, Kupo….The Assassins lost numbers in that period, but Bonnie's hope was what helped to keep the remnant members together. The earnestness with which she believed was simultaneously encouraging to those around her, and those more cynical folk found themselves feeling the worse for trying to talk her down. Not that their words reached her anyway.

Bonnie did not appear during the Night of Thirteen Moogles where Mary was overtaken and became one of the Heroes that had to be fought, an oversight in retrospect, but she was worried for the sake of her Hero and was assured by those who cared for Mary and Bonnie that she'd be okay and stayed home and safe at their encouragement.

When the long adventure concluded, Bonnie remained with Mary, going with her back to Saori's world. Mary never did give her a proper hidden blade of her own, but that didn't stop Bonnie from attempting fashioning makeshift ones on occasion.

Alternate History: In the alternate timeline after the Sage event, Bonnie stayed with Mary but did not feature highly in that event. She did however help to take care of Vaan when he was wounded and Mary was out looking for Terra, and she remarked that she could use the Mognet and its transportation channels as a way to get around unhindered and quickly, mainly to let people know he was alright. She wouldn't use it for personal gain but she could certainly deliver mail for others, a loophole of sorts as things began to fall apart.

During the battle against Diamond Weapon though, Mary had Bonnie lay low.

Personality:

Moogles tend to be extremes of emotion and Bonnie is no exception. She tends to lean towards the earnest and hopeful sides of things, believing with all of her little heart in the Heroes of Crystallis and the good they can create, and how awesome her personal Hero is. However, in those moments where she does pitch in the other direction she cries and screams just as loud as any other moogle, fleeing from spooky dangers and panicking when no clear solution or leader has risen up. It's something she's grown to depend on Mary for, though it is a known fact that when one moogle panics it can spread to other moogles nearby in a fairly contagious fashion.

While she does laud the Heroes as champions of good and aspires to be like them, she's not perfectly aligned with law and order herself. She is as fond of pranks as any other moogle and takes some devious glee in sneaking about, combining her Assassin training with the favored moogle past time. She's also responsible for one vendor losing a few shipments of kupo nuts to the local moogles, but, as she put it, "he shouldn't have tried so hard to hide them from us if he didn't want us trying to get them, kupo." She also still owes Jaunne an apology for involving him in that heist.

She's a competitive sort, even when there's no need to be so, like arguing with other moogles over which Hero is best, but she also has the courage to put herself forward into situations where the odds are stacked against her. She's aware of the strength and speed she lacks compared to many others, but that doesn't mean she can't try, kupo!

Bonnie is fond of stories, though she's not skilled at writing them herself. She loves hearing them, the stories and legends of the Heroes being the most of all but really any tale told by someone who can put the right energy into it will have her listening with stars in her eyes. As for telling stories, she wants to be good at it but right now her skill isn't there. A problem with it is that she tells stories as they're interesting to her and forgets a bit about her audience. Mary is indeed a super cool Hero, but Bonnie tends to overplay that in her stories and they turn into more bragging than anything else. Proper story structure is at least something she's been getting better at though, not getting pulled off onto tangents as much.

If there is one thing she's scared of in a more irrational sense, as a lack of kupo nuts or losing Mary are rational ones of course, it's ghosts. Not the ghostly enemies that adventurers may fight, but those are scary too, but more the invisible sort, the concept of them, and dark and spooky haunted places. While she does have a fondness for stories, she's also easily rendered into lump hiding under a blanket when it comes to scary stories. She doesn't shy away from scary stories by any means, after all she knows she has to confront her fears to get over them, but up to this point she freaks out long before any rational mind can set up its defenses. But then when the story is over she'll laugh and boast about how she wasn't THAT scared and looks forward to the next time.

She remained a dutiful companion to Mary and was one of the few moogles in Crystallis brave (or foolish) enough to go on adventures with her Hero. Mary had to convince her to remain behind for her own good from time to time, but she worked to help in any way she could. Her battles against the empire's mechanical forces were bolstered by her association with the Heroes and the Assassins, but really it was just the right thing to do. She couldn't just hide and wait to be rescued like some of the other moogles were doing, and she didn't blame them for it. But when it came to her the idea just made her nose itch and her wings wriggle. She had to do something.

Overall, Bonnie was well regarded by the other Heroes, and Mary in particular oscillated with cherishing her presence and worrying dearly for the little one. Saori enjoyed her company as well, but perhaps deserves some blame for encouraging her. The other moogles found her a bit annoying when she'd go on and on about things, but those who saw her in action had to admit she put her pom where her mouth was.
